Owner Profile: Crawford L. Dunham
After working in the
construction and hospitality industry for 25 years, Crawford has a
comprehensive knowledge of the building industry and its codes and
requirements, both residential and commercial.
The start of his career
was spent working as an apprentice carpenter, earning his way the hard way
and sometimes having to camp or swing from a hammock in the trees of Maui or
Marthas Vineyard. When he decided to
settle down and make carpentry his career, he learned everything it takes to
build a home, from clearing the land to moving the new homeowners in. In the following years he polished that
knowledge, with courses in drafting, design and landscape architecture.
Working in the
hospitality industry for several years has also given him a commercial view
of the housing industry, such as working with new A.D.A. regulations and
large mechanical systems. The hospitality industry – in both hotels and
apartments -- also taught him budgeting and how to keep clients happy with
the limited resources given to our department. In that process he received certifications
in air conditioning/ refrigeration and in pool operation to further his
knowledge of small home mechanical systems.
The past 14 years
Crawford has been working one-on-one with clients to find cost effective ways
to build them their dreams. Whether
its a small curio cabinet, or a small addition, he tries to generate little
to no waste, with minimal construction-related hassles, and all for a
reasonable price.
Believing strongly in preservation of habitats for all flora and fauna, he donates when he can to the Nature Conservancy and the national committee for the New River, Ducks unlimited, and North Carolina Resources Commission, which preserve our wild lands for the enjoyment of future generations. Its with the belief in little impact, reusing materials and individualism that drives his work ethic
